Reign of Tahmasp I and Safavid Preservation
Tahmasp I
The second monarch of the Safavid dynasty. Succeeding his father Ismail I, he ruled for about 52 years from 1524 to 1576. He ensured the survival of the state through wars against the Ottoman Empire and Uzbek forces, maintaining territory and royal authority from both diplomatic and military perspectives. He moved the capital from Tabriz to Qazvin, organized court politics and administrative systems, and focused heavily on protecting Shia Islam and promoting arts such as manuscript illumination and miniature painting.
