Murad III

The 12th sultan of the Ottoman Empire. Ruling from 1574 to 1595, he succeeded his father Selim II. His reign was marked by a long war with Safavid Persia and ongoing conflicts with the Habsburgs, expanding the empire's territory eastwards into the Caucasus region. On the other hand, issues such as financial strains from prolonged warfare, rising prices, and military revolts grew severe. He was also known for patronizing court culture, miniature painting, and literature, encouraging the creation of artistic works and lavish manuscripts.
