The 11th sultan of the Ottoman Empire, reigning from 1566 to 1574. Son of Suleiman I and Hürrem Sultan, he was also called "Selim the Blond" due to his blond hair. During his reign, Grand Vizier Sokollu Mehmed Pasha played a central role in state administration, advancing the conquest of Cyprus and the recapture of Tunis.
