Ahmed III
Ahmed III
The 23rd sultan of the Ottoman Empire, ruling from 1703 to 1730. Ascending the throne after the deposition of his brother Mustafa II, he promoted diplomacy and the growth of culture and arts. The period from 1718 to 1730 during his reign is known as the "Tulip Period," marked by flourishing European exchanges, printing culture, architecture, and garden design. However, wars with Russia and Austria, court extravagance, and economic discontent destabilized the political situation, ultimately leading to his abdication in 1730 during the Patrona Halil revolt.
