Kim Chwa-chin and the Victory at Qingshanli
Kim Chwa-chin
Kim Chwa-chin was a prominent commander of the Korean anti-Japanese armed struggle in Manchuria. As leader of the Northern Military Administration Office Army, he organized and trained disciplined guerrilla units to resist Japanese colonial expansion. In October 1920, Kim commanded coalition forces alongside Hong Beom-do in the famous Battle of Qingshanli, orchestrating precision ambushes that inflicted heavy casualties on Japanese troops in one of the independence movement's greatest military victories. Overcoming subsequent organizational fracturing, he dedicated his later years to managing anarchist self-governing bodies for Korean residents in Manchuria before his tragic assassination in 1930.
