Queen Victoria: Symbol of a Golden Imperial Age
Alexandrina Victoria
The last monarch of the British House of Hanover, who ruled the United Kingdom for over 63 years from 1837 to 1901. A sovereign symbolising the politics, industry, science, culture, and imperial expansion of 19th-century Britain—a period known as the Victorian era—she assumed the title Empress of India in 1876. Through her marriage to Prince Albert, she expanded dynastic ties across European royal families, earning the moniker "the grandmother of Europe." Following Prince Albert's death, she withdrew from public life for an extended period, but her popularity revived in her later years, with her Golden Jubilee and Diamond Jubilee celebrated grandly.
