Architect of the Royal Louvre
Pierre Lescot
A leading architect of the French Renaissance. Born into an aristocratic family, he is known as the figure who fully introduced elements of classical architecture into French architecture. He was in charge of the reconstruction of the Louvre Palace starting from the reign of Francis I, a role he continued under Henry II, Francis II, Charles IX, and Henry III. Collaborating with Jean Goujon to integrate architecture and sculpture, he worked on the Lescot Wing of the Louvre Palace, the Fontaine des Innocents, the Hotel Carnavalet, and the Chateau de Vallery, significantly influencing the development of French classical architecture.
