Peng Dehuai
Peng Dehuai
Peng Dehuai, born October 24, 1898, in Xiangtan County, Hunan Province, was one of China’s foremost military commanders and a key CPC founder. During WWII, he played an indispensable role, dramatically boosting CPC morale and visibility by masterminding the landmark "Hundred Regiments Offensive," a massive and effective assault on Japanese forces. His military prowess was also central to the Korean War effort, where he commanded Chinese forces. Tragically, Peng was later purged after courageously criticizing Mao’s policies, yet his legacy as a brilliant and dedicated soldier is undeniable.
