Liu Shaoqi
Liu Shaoqi
Liu Shaoqi, born November 24, 1898, in Ningxiang City, Hunan Province, was a prominent political theorist, labor leader, and a core figure in the early Communist Party of China. His expertise was in underground party work, labor union organizing, and developing CPC ideology, effectively serving as Mao's right-hand man for years. However, during the Cultural Revolution, Liu was brutally targeted by Mao as a "capitalist roader," purged, and died under severe persecution. His posthumous rehabilitation critically highlighted the immense excesses and tragedies of that chaotic and violent period.
