Li Dazhao
Li Dazhao
Born October 29, 1889, in Daguduo Village, Hebei Province, Li Dazhao was a prominent scholar and a vital early theoretical leader who co-founded the Communist Party of China. As Chief Librarian at Peking University, he established study groups that introduced Marxism, profoundly influencing pivotal figures like Mao. Li played a critical role in early CPC organization and the landmark May Fourth Movement. Tragically, he was executed in 1927 by a warlord, becoming a celebrated martyr of Chinese communism, but his early contributions remain absolutely essential to the party's formation.
