Hideki Tojo
Hideki Tojo
Hideki Tojo was a General in the Imperial Japanese Army who served as Prime Minister and Army Minister during the peak of World War II. Concentrating administrative, military, and police powers in his hands, he led Japan into war with the Allies following failed U.S. negotiations. He structured Japan's total war effort through controlled economic policies and the Greater East Asia Conference. Forced to resign following the strategic loss of Saipan in 1944, Tojo was later convicted as a Class-A war criminal at the Tokyo Trials and executed in 1948.
