A politician and merchant during the American independence movement, and one of the Founding Fathers known for serving as President of the Second Continental Congress. Famous for his prominent signature on the Declaration of Independence, the term "Hancock" is still sometimes used as slang for "signature" in the United States today. He was active as a Patriot leader during the Revolutionary War and later served as Governor of Massachusetts.
