Mehmed II
Ascending the throne in 1444 and again in 1451, Mehmed II conquered Constantinople in 1453, ending the Byzantine Empire. He established the city as the Ottoman capital, expanded territories across the Balkans and Anatolia, strengthened legal codes, and patronized both Islamic and Western arts.
