Suppressing Internal Rebellions while Restoring Imperial Fiscal Integrity

Jiaqing Emperor

The 6th emperor of the Qing dynasty. Born as the 15th son of the Qianlong Emperor, he ascended the throne in 1796. Although his father, the Qianlong Emperor, retained real power even after abdicating, the Jiaqing Emperor began his full-scale personal rule following Qianlong's death in 1799. He addressed the punishment of the powerful courtier Heshen, the correction of bureaucratic corruption, fiscal reconstruction, and the suppression of domestic rebellions. On the other hand, financial burdens and administrative issues due to events such as the White Lotus Rebellion were significant, and he is evaluated as an emperor during a period when the Qing dynasty's governing power gradually weakened.
