Robert Edward Lee Jr.'s Life and Writings
Robert Edward Lee Jr.
Robert Edward Lee Jr. (known as Robin) was the third son of General Robert E. Lee, active as a soldier, plantation owner, and author. Despite being the general's son, he enlisted as a private in an artillery unit during the Civil War and later fought after being promoted to cavalry captain. After the war, he engaged in plantation management and left behind precious records conveying his father's private life and personality through his 1904 publication, "Recollections and Letters of General Robert E. Lee," making a major contribution to historical research for posterity.
