Michael King Jr.'s Civil Rights Crusade
Michael King Jr.
Michael King Jr. (later Martin Luther King Jr.) was a leader of the civil rights movement who led nonviolent resistance. Beginning with the Montgomery Bus Boycott movement, he inspired the world with his "I Have a Dream" speech at the March on Washington in 1963 and played a decisive role in the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. He received the Nobel Peace Prize in the same year. He dedicated his life to realizing peace and social justice, not only by seeking the abolition of racial discrimination, but also through the eradication of poverty and opposition to the Vietnam War.
