Ali Shariati: Ideological Father of Revolution
Ali Shariati
Ali Shariati was a revolutionary Iranian sociologist and philosopher whose ideas deeply inspired the intellectual movement behind the 1979 Iranian Revolution. Born in Kahak village, Khorasan region, Iran on November 23, 1933, Shariati blended Marxist sociology with Shia Islamic theology to formulate "Islamic Socialism." His speeches at the Hosseiniye Ershad in Tehran energized Iranian youth and intellectuals, calling for active resistance against Pahlavi autocracy and Western imperialism. Subjected to regime persecution and exile, Shariati died mysteriously in England in 1977, leaving an enduring legacy as the ideological catalyst of revolutionary Shia activism.
